For the past two years, Pablo Gnecco has been working through the Colombian coffee supply chain from seed to cup with Origen, his direct-trade project with Oscar Castro's farm in Charalá, Santander. Looking for people further along that path, he met Juan Medina of the Coffee Five Project during Juan's business trip to New York last year with Obscure Coffee.

Juan has done every job in coffee: producer, miller, exporter, roaster. Based in Medellín with global export reach and most of his clients in the United States, he knows the chain end to end and consults for others trying to learn it. The two struck a trade. Juan guides Origen, and Studio Studio builds the brand for his practice.

The brief was to help Juan win more clients, and it grew into our most complete identity project. Working phase by phase, we built a full identity system, business cards, packaging, and a website that doubles as a profile he can send to prospects and a portal where he updates his services and green coffee inventory himself.

It's been one of our most rewarding collaborations. We built him a brand, and he's taught us an industry.

Outcome

Juan maintains his own services and green coffee inventory through the portal, and sends the site as a profile to prospective clients.
